*Jefferson County Hospital and Jefferson County Nursing Home Legal Counsel* will provide legal and regulatory advice, guidance, and representation internally to both organizations and its related entities, and externally to members and their legal counsel on a wide variety of issues, including but not limited to facility licensure, business, transactional, governance, tax issues, regulatory, compliance, privacy, antitrust matters and Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
The position is part of the Board of Trustee team and serves as the lead staff to appropriate committees.
Internally at both agencies, the Legal Counsel is responsible for legal affairs, including contracts, negotiations, structuring and compliance issues, corporate governance, litigation management, employment matters and business transactions.
The Legal Counsel assists various internal divisions including the policy team in analyzing state and federal legislative proposals and assists in state and federal lobbying efforts as requested; and the shared services team, quality/safety team, data/analytics team and the service corporation with legal, contract and negotiation related topics.
*QUALIFICATIONS * • Law degree from accredited law school • Must be barred to practice law in Mississippi • Experience in a health law related legal practice, preferably in Mississippi • In-depth knowledge of legislative, regulatory, and judicial issues that affect the health care community on state and federal levels required • Strong public speaking and writing skills, including the ability to clearly describe complex issues • Ability to handle detailed, complex concepts/problems and make decisions regarding legal issues • Ability to prepare legal documents with minimum supervision • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Board of Trustees members, outside agencies, government entities and other stakeholders • Ability to think creatively and strategically • Effective leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills • Ability to handle multiple competing demands and prioritize workload *JOB TYPE* · Part-Time *LOCATION* · Fayette, MS Interested individuals are asked to submit resumes to the Human Resources Director, Diamonisha Brown @*dbrown@jeffhospital.
