*Primary Function*
Durfold Corporation’s sewing machine operator is an entry level position responsible for production of upholstered furniture components in accordance with Durfold Corporation’s policies, procedures and applicable laws.
This position processes and assembles raw vinyl fabric, as well as, wood and steel materials into finished products.
Basic job responsibilities include (but not limited to) operating the following: industrial sewing machine, top-stitch sewing machine, welt cord machine, and possible cutting and patterning equipment for foam and fabric.
Duties also include cleaning appropriate equipment and workspace, as well as, organizing supplies and work-in-process components.

*Key Deliverables*
* Sew quality seams in vinyl fabrics consistently, accurately and as directed.
* Produce components at a prompt pace understanding that time is of the essence.
* Safely operate and maintain sewing equipment and in accordance with supervisory direction.
* Maintain a clean and organized workstation and assist in overall departmental cleanliness.
* Assist other departments as directed by supervisor.
* Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Relay production information to co-workers on shift as well as other departments.
* Conduct final cleaning of furniture for shipping as directed by supervisor.
*Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:*
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Make independent decisions within the operating procedures at Durfold Corporation.
* Mastery of repetitive functions within the job.
* Meet progressive productivity requirements with consistent accuracy.
* Write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
* Ability to read a tape measure up to 1/16” increments and a protractor down to 1-degree increments.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* Ability to set up, thread, oil, change needles and bobbins, and clean sewing machines.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes that occur on the production line.
* Successful candidates will be required to consent to the following: background screening and drug screen.
