Electrician I - Facilities Services
Job Summary:
Maintain and service the electrical systems and emergency generators at UMMC.
To install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment, systems and fixtures.
To ensure work is in accordance with relevant codes and complies with applicable safety practices.
Education & Experience
High School diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in electrical systems preferred.
Three (3) years experience as an electrician; maintenance in a healthcare or critical care infrastructure experience preferred.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Valid Driver's License required.
Electrician’s license or certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of electrical systems, emergency generators and related equipment.
Knowledge of relevant electrical codes, regulations and safety standards.
Problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication skills; Interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, switchgear and distribution panels.
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of emergency generators to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
This includes testing, fuel system checks and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Ensure all electrical work is performed in compliance with local, state and federal safety codes and regulations.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and inspections including generator tests results and maintenance schedules.
Collaborate with other facilities technicians and health system departments to coordinate maintenance activities and respond effectively to electrical issues.
