Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer will research, design, develop, and evaluate generator set products in addition to supervising the manufacturing and testing of these products to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
The Electrical Engineer will report to the General Manager of Operations of Taylor Power Systems.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing up to date technical information ensuring that specification design and analysis activities are completed and documented as per company requirements.
The Electrical Engineer will perform these activities within a team environment, applying engineering and critical thinking skills to the design and development of generator set products.
Engineer will interface with Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Suppliers using concurrent engineering strategies to optimize design for cost and product ability.
The Electrical Engineer will confer with other engineers and customers to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
This individual will establish a method and sequence of operations for developing and testing experimental electronic and electrical equipment.
The Electrical Engineer will evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings, and design comments for electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria and will recommend approval or disapproval.
The incumbent will direct electrical and electronic system assemblies of prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using tools and measuring instruments.
This individual will ensure modification of electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations, in addition will create production Bills of Material for all electrical assemblies and will prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
This individual will work closely and keep the General Manager informed of progress and/or any problems encountered.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Create and maintain a generator sizing program and a generator specification writer program.
Develop and write technical specifications and procedures for power generator requirements and will design and layout AC/DC electrical diagrams and schematics.
Direct electrical and electronic system assemblies of prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles using tools and measurements.
Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations.
Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions and record results.
Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design related problems, both existing electrical products and prototypes of new equipment.
Evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings, and design comments for electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria.
Recommend approval or disapproval.
Provide direction and conceptual input to design drafters in developing designs for client products and to technicians to complete engineering prototypes and to perform tests and to analyze data.
Assure all engineering technical data is complete and accurately documented; establish and maintain technical files.
Troubleshoot issues during the manufacturing, test, and start up cycle.
