Description:
DUTIES: Analyze and resolve traffic signal system malfunctions; repair electrical, electro-mechanical and electronic traffic signal components.
Install and repair traffic signals; program controller functions for effective operation.
Perform preventive maintenance on traffic signals; perform field inspections and texting of existing traffic signals.
Operate a variety of signal installation and maintenance equipment including aerial lift bucket truck, an oscilloscope, cable locator, digital multimeter, analog multimeter, digital capacitor/leakage meter integrated circuit computer and other similar equipment and machinery in repairing, installing and maintaining signals.
Prepare safety procedure on work site including placing traffic cones, barricades & warning sign for safety in and around work zone.
Respond to emergency calls relative to traffic signal malfunctions during regular working hours and specified stand by periods.
QUALIFICATIONS: One year of increasingly responsible experience in installation, maintenance and repair of electric, electronic and digital signal control devices comparable to that of a Signal Technician I in the City of Jackson; equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by specialized training in electronics of a related field.
