Civil Engineer / Construction Inspector

Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
Duties/Responsibilities
Observe, inspect and provide reports on construction management services for large complex federal projects involving coastal restoration, dredging, and marsh creation for compliance with plans, specifications and construction methods.
Provide recommendations or necessary changes to government personnel regarding contract plans and specification relative to all phases of construction.
Perform daily construction inspections and daily reporting.
Make written recommendations to the COR regarding construction; compute time extensions; and assist in preparing documents for change orders and claims.
Monitor contractor’s quality system and administer the three-phase inspection process.
Provide surveillance at construction sites and assists owner in problem resolution.
Deliver and review change orders; modification; RFIs; and submittals.
Monitor contractor’s schedule.
Review and ensure QA and safety plans are adhered to by the contractor.
Utilize Resident Management System (RMS).
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum of 2 years of experience as civil engineer on large complex multimillion dollar federal construction projects, which involves coastal restoration, dredging, and marsh creation
Experience with Resident Management System (RMS), preferred
Construction management experience on projects in Alabama, more specifically in areas in the vicinity of Mobile Harbor, preferred
US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) or other federal project experience, preferred
Experience preferred EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual
Physical Requirements:
Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
