SCOPE OF POSITION
To provide technical assistance to Plastic Manufacturing Division operations in the form of process improvement, cost reduction, safety enhancement, and efficiency.
In the absence of the Director of Manufacturing, the VP Plastics or his/her designate will assume the responsibilities of this position.
II.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES
Within the limits of applicable policies, procedures and established plans, he/she has authority to act and make decisions.
The assignment of work or delegation or responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results.
Functional Responsibilities
Be involved in the design, installation, and configuration of new and existing equipment automation together with equipment/process personnel
Design and integrate control systems on new and existing equipment.
Provide technical expertise and support on equipment, processes and methods aimed at sustaining or increasing output
Design, test, and validate systems (individually or as a member of a team)
Be involved in new and existing production line expansion installation and support
Research new technology or CIM applications to provide feedback to team for new enhancement
Review the project scope, proposals, job specification and resolve differences, providing constructive feedback to the person giving direction in a respective manner to achieve the best solution possible
Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results and follow through with a series of related detailed steps or processes
Provide hardware and software enhancement ideas or request to improve productivity or quality
Contribute to multiple technical projects targeting continuous improvement results in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency, delivery and cost
Work independently and with a team of Engineers/Technologists to assist in software development aspects of larger projects; work with other team members and IT personnel on system launches and upgrades
Provide support for Customer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Projects from project design, implementation, production launch, to project closure
Provide daily CIM operation support to end users to ensure system availability
Manage the scope of the project to deliver the customers requirements in the customer specified format
Deliver projects on time and with least cost for the defined scope and highest quality to our customers
Provide daily status notes on launch and during projects
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Regular contact with the Director of Manufacturing and Division Project Engineer
Frequent contact with Production and Maintenance colleagues
Occasional contact with Customer Service, and Quality Supervisor
Occasional contact with suppliers, contractors and equipment manufacturers
III.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular use of computers, telephones and other types of office equipment
Must organize complex tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to travel up to two weeks per month to included weekends as required
Available to work temporarily different hours if required
Read, understand and follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
Read, understand and follow SQF requirements and General Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
IV.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Significant time is spent on the floor and the remaining time is spent in an office setting.
Hazards are those normally associated with a Plant position and include noise levels above 85 decibels, warm building temperature during mid-summer months.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Associates degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
Three to five years of related experience in manufacturing in Plastics Extrusion desired
Project Management experience required
Skills
Knowledge in for statistical methods, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and other Lean Manufacturing tools
Effective communication, planning and organizational skills
Great interpersonal skills
Must be able to meet target dates, prioritize and practice excellent time management skills
Attention to detail
Should have considerable skills in problem solving, administration, supervision, planning, communications, decision making and follow up
Proficient in MS Office
Professional verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills
Project management skills
Strong understanding of various trades
Ability to use AUTOCAD and create drawings
Strong mechanical, electrical and process knowledge understanding
