POSITION: Millwright - Industrial Maintenance Technician
World class lumber manufacturing facility based in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Vicksburg Forest Products is now embarking on its next phase of growth with significant upgrades throughout the mill along with the addition of a high-speed chip-n-saw line, taking the mill to a production capacity of 180 million board feet annually.
The Millwright will be a key player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through daily use of troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies.
This position requires experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical drives, electrical applications and metal fabrication.
A written entrance exam and demonstrated skills’ test are required.
Pay rates are based on experience and skill level.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process.
Undertake preventative maintenance program for equipment.
Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair equipment.
Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.
Work in manlifts with the use of fall protection equipment.
Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.
Verify and document repairs made.
Work in a safe manner using proper PPE.
Required Skills:
3 years of previous maintenance experience
Be able to use supply room and cross-reference parts and specify parts
Competent in reading blueprints and schematics
Competent in cutting and welding in all positions
Competent in all type bearing installations and alignments
Competent in use of lubricants
Competent with all type power transmission components and troubleshooting
Be able to figure drive ratios
Competent in troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Be able to rebuild hydraulic and pneumatic components
Be able to wire motors
Be able to use multimeter to take readings
Cut keyway in shaft
Be able to pass a cutting and welding test (flat, overhead, vertical, and horizontal).
Be able to pass a basic mechanical assessment test
Be able to pass a basic hands-on test
High school diploma or GED Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays as required
Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions.
Comfortable working in loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
