Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for in-house payroll tasks for processing accurate and timely payment to our employees and reports to the Payroll Manager.
The Payroll Specialist's responsibilities include collecting and reviewing employee information & hours worked, calculating wages, preparing & processing employee payments, research & correcting discrepancies, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
The Specialist should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues, while adhering to strict compliance under company or regulatory standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls.
Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues.
Escalate to Payroll Manager with updates and problems.
Prepare financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
Prepare periodic payroll reports for review by management.
Process direct deposit, W-4, and employment verifications, as required.
Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations.
Communicate regularly with Human Resources’ Benefits Department and employees’ supervisor/managers.
Assists in gathering information in preparation for an audit.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Solid understanding of payroll best practices.
Demonstrates strong Excel skills.
Working knowledge of multi-state and local payroll taxation.
Experience working with accounting & payroll software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work under pressure, and have a sense of urgency, to meet payroll deadlines.
High numerical aptitude.
Detail-oriented, organized, with an ability to juggle multiple tasks.
Ability to identify issues, problem solve, and follow through to resolution.
Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, a plus.
Two (2) – four (4) years of relevant payroll experience.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
